RC Driving Academy ("RCDA," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data you share with us through our Integrated Management and Assessment System (the "System"). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it, in line with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information — name, email address, contact number, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
- Enrollment information — course selection, enrollment status, and reference codes.
- Payment information — for online payments, only the last 4 digits of a card/e-wallet number and transaction status are retained on our servers; full card numbers, CVV, and expiry are transmitted directly to our payment processor and are never stored by RCDA. For face-to-face payments, an administrator manually records the amount and date received.
- Assessment data — instructor notes, session records, and performance classifications used to track a student's progress.
- Technical data — browser type, device information, and usage logs, collected automatically to keep the System secure and working correctly.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your student, instructor, or administrator account.
- To process enrollment and payment for driving courses.
- To schedule sessions and record attendance and performance.
- To communicate with you about your enrollment, schedule changes, or account requests.
- To maintain the security, integrity, and improvement of the System.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with:
- Payment processors (e.g. GCash, Maya, card networks), solely to complete a transaction you initiated.
- Instructors and administrators within RCDA, limited to what is necessary to manage your enrollment and training.
- Government agencies or regulators, only when required by law (e.g. LTO reporting requirements).
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations related to driving-school certification records.
5. Your Rights
Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Be informed of how your data is processed.
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion or blocking of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Object to certain processing and lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@rcda.ph.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls limited by role (student, instructor, administrator) — to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
7. Cookies & Local Storage
The System may use your browser's local storage to temporarily save in-progress form entries (such as an unfinished sign-up) purely for your convenience, so you don't lose your progress if you accidentally close the tab. This data stays on your device and is cleared automatically once you complete or abandon the form.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
